September 8th, 2020 My whole world crumbled, What was supposed to be a happy day turned into the worst day of my families life. My grandpa finally came home after two long months of being in skilled nursing. We were all so busy that day trying to make sure he was comfortable and had everything he needed. Unfortunately he was only with us for a few short hours. Things went downhill very quickly! As much as we tried to keep the kids from seeing him take a turn for the worst, they were still there while we screamed and cried and pleaded with him to stay.
My children are very young. This is there first time experiencing death. They have questions and moments where they cry and want grandpa Rocky home. What can I say? I want him home too. Two days after my grandfathers death was my grandmas birthday. The worst birthday of her life! But, one thing did bring her joy! She received a gift from my childhood best friend Porsha Carr. That gift brightened her whole day! Not only did that gift bring a smile to my grandmas face but my kids believe that that little bear was their grandpa Rocky.
Guys when I tell you they take this bear everywhere, I mean EVERYWHERE! To the grocery store, out side to play ect. This bear is how they now communicate with their grandpa Rocky. They kiss and hug this bear everyday! This little gift has now given my children a way to grieve in their own way. Yes, they still ask hard questions and talk about their grandpa Rocky everyday but they now have a little friend to hold and comfort them. I will forever be thankful to my best friend Porsha at porshacarrblog.com for this gift!
